School of Affirmation’s first blood drive inspires youth

By witnessing their teachers and parents give the "priceless gift of life," the school hopes to inspire a new generation to follow suit when they come of age.

The School of Affirmation partnered with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) to host its first blood drive – not only to collect blood but also to inspire children about the power of kindness and community.

Principal Juanita Horn said that while learners were not yet old enough to donate, the event aimed to plant the seed for the future.

“By seeing their teachers and parents give the priceless gift of life, we hope the learners will be inspired to do the same when they are old enough,” Horn explained.

The SANBS reported that they met their target for the day, making the event a success.
