Four-year-old boy struck by truck while crossing N3 near Leondale

A four-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a truck while trying to cross the N3 freeway in Leondale.

EMPD Bike Unit officers responded to an accident in the Leondale area on October 11.

Upon arrival, they found a four-year-old boy allegedly hit by a truck while trying to cross the N3 heading south.

“The child, who sustained serious head injuries, was found lying on the side of the road and was rushed to the nearest hospital,” said EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele.

The EMPD urged pedestrians to be cautious and avoid crossing highways, as it is illegal and poses a significant risk to life.

Adults should always supervise children near roads to prevent such incidents.
