Ekurhuleni district commissioner confers ranks on 50 newly promoted SAPS members
Fifty police officers were officially promoted during a ceremony in Kempton Park, where District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole urged members to lead with integrity and accountability.
The Ekurhuleni district commissioner has officially conferred ranks on 50 newly promoted SAPS members during a ceremony held at Maratha Church in Kempton Park on February 11.
According to SAPS, the ceremony was presided over by district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole and marked a significant milestone in the careers of the promoted officers.
During the event, insignia were formally presented to members who advanced to various ranks.
Eight members were promoted to lieutenant colonel, 41 to captain and one to warrant officer.

In her keynote address, Sithole emphasised that promotion within SAPS is not merely an elevation in title but a call to greater responsibility and accountability.
She reminded the officers that a higher rank comes with higher expectations.
“As members, you must lead with integrity, discipline and unwavering commitment to your duties,” said Sithole, adding that these qualities form the foundation of professional excellence, public trust and long-term career success.
She quoted a foundational Christian principle, saying: “God’s timing is always perfect.”
SAPS said the ceremony underscored the organisation’s commitment to recognising dedication and rewarding merit within its ranks.
