LISTEN: ActionSA refuses to take seat in Ekurhuleni mayoral committee amid reshuffle fallout

Party distances itself from mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza’s executive changes, citing governance concerns.

ActionSA has refused to take up a seat in the City of Ekurhuleni’s mayoral committee following a reshuffle announced by Nkosindiphile Xhakaza.

The reshuffle, which took immediate effect on Tuesday evening, introduced changes to the composition of the mayoral committee.

However, ActionSA said it would not “lend credibility to a corrupt administration”, distancing itself from the reconfigured executive.

In a statement, the party maintained that it would not participate in or endorse decisions that, in its view, perpetuate poor governance and undermine service delivery in City of Ekurhuleni.

The development adds further strain to the metro’s political landscape, with tensions continuing over leadership, accountability and service delivery challenges.
