Xhakaza reshuffles mayoral committee to stabilise the city

City officials said the changes form part of broader efforts to build a stable city.

The Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, has announced strategic changes to the composition of the City’s Mayoral Committee (MMC), with immediate effect from February 17.

The reshuffle follows extensive consultations with multi-party organisations represented in Council. Thirteen of the 16 political parties have agreed to an Ekurhuleni Governance Framework aimed at strengthening a sustainable Government of Local Unity (EGLU).

According to the Mayor’s office, the framework is intended to improve service delivery, promote stability and ensure a people-centred approach to governance.
