Young author Oyama Zoe Mashazi, alongside her brother Ndumiso Prince Mashazi, recently launched their latest books on her birthday.
Her birthday was on January 24, marking the day as a special milestone for the siblings.
The occasion celebrated Oyama’s third published book and Prince’s second, reflecting their growing journey in the literary space at a remarkably young age.

The Lambton resident, Oyama, launched her second book, Madeline and Levile in Ballet Class, at the Germiston Library on Valentine’s Day last year.
Her newest title, The Odd Baby Cow, carries an important message about embracing individuality.
The story follows a cow that feels different from the rest, wanting to drink milk from a glass and sleep on a mat.
Through this unique character, the book reinforces the message that it is okay to be different and that one should never change who they are to fit into society.
Prince’s book, A Very Messy Story, focuses on hygiene and personal responsibility.

Their mother, Thuli Mashazi, expressed immense pride in her children’s latest achievements. She described her son’s book as a valuable read for parents who want to teach their children about hygiene and the importance of keeping their rooms clean.
“Oyama is doing Grade 6, and she is an award-winning author. Her brother is doing Grade 9,” said Mashazi, highlighting the siblings’ dedication and passion for writing at such a young age.
“Their imagination fascinates me the most, and the church has been supporting their journey by purchasing the books,” she said.
She added that the book launch was well attended, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with writers and literature lovers who came together to celebrate the siblings’ achievements.
Thulisile, an accredited author and publisher herself, published her latest book, Negotiation Intelligence: Essential Soft Skills, late last year.
