Local customer care centres offer a lifeline for Ekurhuleni residents in need
From indigent registration to youth enrichment workshops, social workers at nearby offices are ready to assist those facing social or financial distress.
The City of Ekurhuleni is encouraging residents in distress to seek assistance from social workers at their nearest customer care centre (CCC), as the city commemorates Social Work Month.
Marked annually in March, Social Work Month coincides with World Social Workers Day, observed on March 17, this year under the theme ‘Social Workers: Uplift, Defend, Transform’.
CoE paid tribute to the vital role played by social workers in supporting vulnerable communities, promoting social justice, and driving transformation across society.

As part of the commemorations, the city’s social workers visited various offices to uplift colleagues and highlight the importance of their profession.
“This was followed by outreach programmes at local clinics, where residents were engaged and informed about the range of services available to them,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
“These services include capacity-building programmes for women and children, enrichment workshops for unemployed youth, awareness initiatives for the elderly, assistance with registration on the city’s indigent database, and access to poverty alleviation programmes within communities.
“Residents in need of support are urged to visit their nearest customer care centre or contact the city through its regional offices for assistance,” said Dlamini.
For more information, residents may contact the city’s social services through the various customer care centres across Ekurhuleni.
