Vehicles seized during municipal by-law crackdown
Officials enforced municipal regulations during a targeted operation, seizing vehicles and confiscating goods linked to illegal trading, parking violations and non-compliant business activities in town.
EMPD officials impounded 12 vehicles during a clean-up operation conducted in Edenvale on March 24.
The operation, which took place between 09:00 and 13:00, involved the EMPD Truck Towing Unit, By-Law Compliance Unit and Edenvale Precinct officers.
It focused on enforcing by-laws in the Edenvale CBD, targeting illegal parking, unlicensed mechanics operating on sidewalks and traders without valid permits.

Streets covered during the operation included Andries Pretorius, Plantation and Central, Van Riebeck Road, as well as 2nd and 4th streets.
Authorities impounded a total of six light motor vehicles, two light delivery vehicles , two heavy motor vehicles, two trailers used for food trading and three motorcycles.
“The vehicles were seized for violations including illegal parking, abandonment and trading without permits. Perishable goods linked to illegal trading were also confiscated,” said EMPD spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.
“All impounded vehicles and goods were taken to the Kempton Park pound,” said Thepa.

According to EMPD, follow-up operations will be conducted to ensure that Edenvale and other towns within the City of Ekurhuleni remain clean, safe and compliant with municipal by-laws.
