WATCH: Heavy rain floods Germiston roads, strands motorists
Rising water levels submerged key routes and bridges, prompting warnings for motorists to avoid flooded areas.

Low-lying areas and major routes were among the hardest hit as water levels rose rapidly. Sections of Johann Rissik Road, Main Reef Road and May Deep Road were affected, severely disrupting traffic.

Two bridges in the Germiston CBD, on Victoria and Meyer streets, were also affected, further complicating traffic flow.

Officials have urged motorists to avoid flooded roads and use alternative routes where possible. They cautioned that floodwaters can conceal hazards such as debris, damaged road surfaces and strong currents capable of sweeping vehicles away.
Residents and motorists are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on traffic conditions as clean-up and monitoring efforts continue.
