Police appeal for help to trace missing Botswana woman last seen in Germiston

Police officers are assisting Botswana authorities in tracing a missing woman who was reportedly seen in Phumula, Germiston.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is appealing to the public for assistance in tracing Uneni Motlhanka, who was reported missing in Botswana and was last seen in the Phumula area of Germiston.

According to police, Uneni was last seen by her boyfriend, who informed her mother of her disappearance on April 4.

On April 27, Uneni’s mother received a call from a South African cellphone number. The caller claimed to have seen Uneni in Phumula, Germiston.

She asked the caller to take Uneni to the nearest police station, but all subsequent attempts to contact the caller were unsuccessful.

Police said Uneni has previously travelled to South Africa and had been deported to Botswana on earlier occasions.

A missing person case was registered at the SSKA Police Station in Botswana, and an Interpol reference number has been issued.

Anyone with information that could assist in locating Uneni is urged to contact the investigating officer, Capt Ntuli, on 012 393 2003 or 082 609 9484. Information can also be provided anonymously via the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS app
