Vryburger High welcomes first female principal
A warm welcome to Vryburger High School’s new principal Stephanie Diedericks.
Vryburger High School welcomed Stephanie Diedericks as its new principal on August 1.
Her appointment not only marks a new chapter for the school but also a continuation of a journey of service and dedication that began more than a decade ago. Diedericks also makes history as the school’s first female principal since its establishment.
She has been a pillar of leadership at Vryburger High since 2013, when she was appointed Head of Department. In 2018, her commitment and vision saw her promoted to Deputy Principal. Today, she steps into the role of Principal with the respect and admiration of both staff and learners.

For Diedericks, a school is more than classrooms and corridors — it is a living space where the holistic atmosphere shapes the daily experiences of learners and teachers.
With this belief at the heart of her leadership, one of her first initiatives was to focus on the outward beauty of the school.
By revitalising the gardens and grounds, and with the generous support of the Primrose and Bedfordview community, she has created a welcoming environment that reflects the pride of the Vryburger family.
But her passion extends far beyond appearances.
“We are deeply aware of the challenges faced by Vryburger High’s 783 learners, many of whom come from middle-class and underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds,” said Diedericks.

Driven by this compassion, she spearheaded the school’s internal feeding scheme in 2024. With the generous backing of Idemia, as well as food parcels and donations from Reddam House, NGOs and the local community, the initiative ensures that no learner faces the school day on an empty stomach.
Her vision for academic excellence is equally inspiring. Under her guidance, the Study Buddy programme was introduced in 2024 to support high-risk Grade 12 learners.

“The results have been remarkable. Thanks to this initiative, Vryburger High is now celebrated as the top academic high school in Germiston,” Diedericks said.

Her journey is one of passion, service and unshakable belief that within each learner lies the potential for greatness. As she takes on the role of Principal, she brings not only years of experience but also a clear vision: to nurture an environment where every child can grow, learn and thrive.
The Vryburger High School community warmly welcomes Diedericks as Principal and looks forward to a future shaped by her dedication and love for all who belong to this community.
