First day: Sunnyridge, Bedfordview and School of Affirmation welcome learners with excitement and pride

Parents and teachers share emotions as Grade One learners take their first steps into the new academic year.

It was a morning of mixed emotions for parents and learners as the academic year began at Sunnyridge Primary School, School of Affirmation, and Bedfordview Primary School.

For many, the day marked a milestone, particularly for parents dropping off their Grade One learners for the first time.

“It’s emotional but exciting. You worry, but you’re also proud to see them take this next step,” said Siyabonga Vilakazi.
