The metro’s plans to rename major roads and landmarks in the city.
Johannes Ledwaba: “Even though it will just be for a few months, the process of implementing these changes will help a few unemployed people earn an income.”
Bongiwe Zondi: “It does not matter to me what a street is named, what matters is the quality of the roads we have and the maintenance of those roads.”
Raymond Atherton: “Spending millions of rands on changing street names will not help benefit the people of this city. Unemployment is on the rise and the metro must intervene.”
Lesedi May: “There are people living in informal settlements without proper shelter and the metro is focusing on street name changes. People want housing not new street names.”
Yonela Sodinga: “The funds set aside for such a process can be spent on housing or free education, things which have been promised to us in the past.”
Stefan Labuschagne: “The metro must focus on decreasing poverty in the city, as well as cleaning up our parks and installing restrooms and taps in our parks.”
