Coaching course held at Germiston Stadium
SAFA holds football coaching course.
The South African Football Association (SAFA), in partnership with the metro, hosted a football coaching course at the Germiston Stadium.
The course was a combination of theory and practical sessions and ran from November 23 to December 2.
People from as far as the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal attended the training.
Steve Coetzee, from Pretoria, and Frans Mogashoa, from Polokwane, were the two main instructors who facilitated the training.
They were joined by Ben Hlatshwayo, who gave a lecture on the Laws of the Game, on the first day of the course.
Candidates took part in practical coaching and were taken to Pretoria to analyse a game between AmaTuks and AmaZulu FC, which formed part of their syllabus.
On Sunday, December 1, the candidates wrote an examination on the Laws of the Game.
Former professional football players also take part in the course, including the likes of Clement Mazibuko (former Sundowns player), Ashley Makhanya (former Bafana Bafana and Bidvest Wits player) and James Mothibi (former Orlando Pirates player), to mention a few.
When the candidates return from recess for the second phase of the course, they will write an examination on sports medicine.
