EBA’s Women’s League play-offs

Slam Dunk galore.

The Katlehong Sports Complex (Huntersfield Stadium) hosted the Ekurhuleni Basketball Association (EBA)’s Women’s League play-offs, on Saturday, July 26.

The league started early this year, on April 26, and is made up of six teams which, in turn are made up of school children from different parts of Ekurhuleni.

“One of EBA’s objectives for school leagues is to give players a fighting chance and prepare them for higher levels, such as provincial and national,” said EBA chairman Nhlanhla Zikalala.

Zikalala also told the GCN that such leagues show schools also have a platform and take part in leagues.

The six teams are Pelicans, Spartan Breeze, Sir Pierre van Ryneveldt High School, Chosen Few, Katlehong Hearts and Spartan Bees.

Although other teams were there, vying for third to sixth positions respectively, they played their hearts out as if they were all in the finals.

Spartan Breeze were crowned the new champions of the Ekurhuleni Basketball Association’s Women’s League 2014, while Pelicans came in second place and Katlehong Hearts took third place.
