Youngsters serve up great wins

Two young pupils from the Ekurhuleni Tennis School Of Excellence are starting to make a name for themselves.

Two juniors from the Ekurhuleni Tennis School Of Excellence did extremely well at the annual Mahikeng Junior Tennis Tournament, recently.

The tournament was held in Kempton Park.

Jaydan Rooskrantz won the boys’ u-10 singles title, beating Essa Karani, of Johannesburg, 6-3, while Lethabo Bapela won the boys u-14 singles title.

He beat Thato Chiloane, of Pretoria, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-3 in a gruelling final.

The tournament had a purse of R25 000 which was divided amongst the winners and runners-up.

“Tennis enthusiasts call it the African Grand Slam,” said Loyiso Matsha, coach at the Ekurhuleni Tennis School Of Excellence.

“I am confident that, in a few years’ time, some of my juniors will represent South Africa, and everyone is welcome to attend my academy of all nations.”

There is coaching available for pupils from six to 60 years old.
