Water-logged pitch sees match called off

The Germiston City Cricket Club’s weekend match was called off due to a water-logged pitch.

A week of bad weather was the reason why the Germiston City Cricket Club’s away match was called off on Saturday.

The Fourth League of the Easterns Cricket League against the Tsakane Cricket Club was abandoned due to a water-logged pitch.

This meant the teams had to share the match points.

“This is really not what we needed, as we need as many wins as possible so that we can move up into the Third League,” said David Ungerer, on behalf of Germiston.

This weekend the team will face their arch rivals, the Bedfordview Cricket Club, in a humdinger of a home match at the Germiston City Sports Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
