Coxen misses out on win by one point, in judges split decision

Pietie ‘Thunder’ Coxen went toe-to-toe with Conrad ‘Cage Wise’ Seabi in the EFC 71 hexagon.

The nerves of his first live fight were the last thing on Pietie ‘Thunder’ Coxen’s mind when he faced Conrad ‘Cage Wise’ Seabi in the EFC 71 hexagon, last Saturday.

Coxen admitted going into the welterweight fight that it was somewhat of a grudge match and that he was eager to take Seabi down, while it was noted that Seabi thought the fight and his opponent were beneath him.

The match, however, did not go to plan for either man.

“We lost the fight by one point with a judges’ split decision. I, however, and many people within the EFC community and the fans believe we won the fight.

“I believe we were robbed, but it is what it is and you have to leave it in the hands of the judges,” said Coxen.

Coxen and his team are proud of the performance, with the fight being named ‘fight of the night’ at EFC 71.

“I showed the world what Coxen is all about and what he can do.

“I am calling for a rematch, but at this stage, Seabi is turning the offer down. Hopefully, EFC will give me the opportunity,” he said.

Coxen is planning to take some time off and then he will get back into the gym and start trying for the next event.

“I am hoping to compete at either EFC 73 or 74,” he said.

Coxen thanked his coaching team, friends, family, sponsors and fans for their support.

“Thank you to EFC for giving me the opportunity to fight.

“A big thank you goes to my coaches Ferdi Basson, Greg Grojan and Wade Henderson and my sponsors Fit Extreme Gym, Xtreme Crime Solution, Wade Henderson from Revive Wellness Spa, TTT, Fred’s and SLS Fanie Venter, Christo Theron and Lowentor Group. Without you, nothing would be possible,” Coxen said.

“People think that when you are an EFC fighter you make a lot of money but this really isn’t the case and, we as fighters, rely on sponsorship to help us keep fighting,” he explained.

If you are interested in sponsoring Coxen send an email to bqjudete@live.com or ferdinandbb@gmail.com.

“I try my best to give back to the community so with everything I am sponsored I make sure that a portion goes to helping the community,” Coxen explained.
