EML prepares for the top eight tournament

The 24 teams are divided into four groups - Ekurhuleni West, Emakhishini, Daveyton and Vosloorus Central. Each group consists of six teams and each team has five games to play in the group.

After the Ekurhuleni Masters League (EML) came to an end on May 12, the 24 teams that played in the league are now busy with a new competition – the League Tournament.

Joshua Mokoena, Dream Team Masters executive member, said: “The League Tournament is under the EML and is held to select teams that are going to take part in the Ekurhuleni Masters League Top-Eight Tournament.”

He added the date on which the top-eight tournament will kick off is yet to be set.

Two teams occupying the first and second positions in each group will take part in the EML Top-Eight tournament.

This past weekend the Ekurhuleni West games were played. This group consists of Dream Team Masters, Sunrise Masters, K9 Masters, Motswako Masters, K1 Starts and Thokoza Masters.

Dream Team Masters hosted the event and were held at Extension Seven Sports Ground in Maillula Park, Vosloorus, on May 2.

Dream Team Masters defeated Motswako Masters 3-1, while Sunrise Masters trashed K1 Stars 4-2. Thokoza Masters played against K9 Masters and shared the spoils after their game ended two all.

Each team has played three games in their groups, with Sunrise Masters leading the Ekurhuleni West group with seven points.

Thokoza Masters played their game in honour of their late captain, Amos Jaxa, who died earlier this year.
