Take note of road disruptions during Dis-Chem Ride for Sight

Motorists and residents in the affected areas are urged to be patient with the cyclists between 06:00 and 15:00.

The 62km and 116km events of the Dis-Chem Ride for Sight will start and finish at the Boksburg Stadium on February 19.

Due to the activities and traffic in and out of the stadium, Jubilee Road should be avoided between 06:00 and 15:00.

Traffic delays in Boksburg, Alberton, Germiston, Randvaal/Midvaal, Heidelberg and Brakpan can be expected.

Carnival City Mall traffic to and from Boksburg will also be disrupted along with Van Dyk, Tambotie and Louw streets and Airport Drive.

Delays in areas around Barry Marais Road, North Boundary Road, the R23 between Heidelberg, Geluksdal and Boksburg, are also expected.

Traffic congestion is also expected around the Carnival City area, the R103 in the Vosloorus area, and the Alrode, Leondale and Dawn Park areas.

The Midvaal area along Joan Road, R557, R551 and R42 to Heidelberg will be affected.

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution and allow for extra time when entering or leaving the mentioned areas.

The organisers are appealing to motorists and residents to be patient on the day.

“The event has a good safety record. We urge motorists to help maintain the record,” said Claudette Medefindt.
