Young SA gymnasts seek community support to compete internationally in Spain
Four talented South African gymnasts, many from disadvantaged communities, have qualified for a prestigious global competition in Spain this November. Facing steep travel and accommodation costs, they are calling on the public and local businesses for donations to help them represent the nation on the world stage.
A group of young South African gymnasts needs help to represent the nation at a prestigious international gymnastics competition in Spain from November 11 to 18.
These promising athletes, many from disadvantaged communities, have defied the odds to qualify for the 2025 global gymnastics event, a stage that welcomes only the best from around the world.
Unfortunately, Tyron cannot attend because he is writing his matric examinations.
Despite their success, the financial burden of participating in the international competition threatens to overshadow their dreams.
Travel, accommodation, and competition fees present a significant obstacle for many of the families involved.
Mario dos Santos, one of the selected gymnasts’ parents, has called on the public and private sectors to rally behind these athletes.
“These gymnasts have worked incredibly hard to earn their place on the world stage. Now, they need the support of the community to take that final step,” he said.
This story is not just one of sporting excellence. It is also about resilience, hope, and opportunity.
By supporting these young athletes, sponsors and donors would not only help realise individual dreams but also uplift entire communities through the power of representation and inspiration.
Local businesses, philanthropic individuals, and members of the public interested in contributing to the team’s fundraising efforts are encouraged to reach out to Mario Dos Santos on 082 373 4624.
Alternatively, they can donate to the following bank:
