Central Gauteng Sub-Youth champions again at national athletics meet

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) celebrated its Sub-Youth team’s fourth consecutive national championship win at the National Sub-Youth Championships in Potchefstroom, securing 18 gold, 16 silver, and 11 bronze medals.

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) celebrated the outstanding achievement of the Sub-Youth team that successfully retained its first position at the National Sub-Youth Championships.

The national event was held this past weekend in Potchefstroom, North West.

“Our team showcased exceptional discipline, passion, and great determination, reinforcing the federation’s long-standing commitment to excellence, particularly in the youth categories.

Young athletes took pride in representing the CGA at the National Sub Youth Championships.

The young people delivered remarkable performances in both track and field events, resulting in 45 medals in total – 18 gold, 16 silver, and 11 bronze,” said CGA PR officer Nongcebo Siziba.

This strong medal haul is a testament not only to the athletes’ talent but also to the dedication of coaches, team managers, technical officials, and supportive families who continue to nurture and guide these rising stars.

The CGA commends the coaches and parents for their unwavering commitment and contribution to this remarkable success.

With the 2025 season now successfully concluded, the focus shifts to the 2026 track and field season, beginning in January, where preparations will intensify as CGA aims to strengthen its developmental pathways, enhance athlete preparation, and build on the momentum of this victory.
