One of the highlights of the season was the impressive campaign by the Under 9 team
The Eagles Junior Rugby Club has ended its 2026 season on a high, with young players across five age groups showcasing talent, determination and a strong team spirit throughout the year.
The club fielded five teams ranging from U7 to U18, giving boys and girls the opportunity to develop their rugby skills while building friendships and learning valuable lessons through competitive sport.
One of the highlights of the season was the impressive campaign by the U9 team, which battled through a challenging and competitive league to reach the Valke Youth League final.

“The team endured a difficult start to the season but responded with determination, fighting their way through the competition and earning a place in the final,” said Brewis Derick from the club.
The U9s ultimately finished the season as silver medallists after losing the final 12–5.
Their run to the final was described as a significant achievement and reflected the commitment of the young players, coaches, management and families who supported the team throughout the season.
The club’s older age groups also ended their campaigns strongly, with the U16 and U18 teams recording convincing victories in their final fixtures.
Their performances provided a positive conclusion to their respective seasons and highlighted the continued development of rugby within the club. For Eagles, the achievements of the 2026 season extend beyond trophies and results.

Derick said every player who represented the club had the opportunity to learn about teamwork, discipline, resilience and sportsmanship while experiencing the challenges and rewards of playing competitive rugby.
“From the youngest players taking their first steps onto the field to the older teams competing at a more advanced level, the season was marked by growth and development,” said Derick.
“We thank the coaches, team managers, committee members, parents and families who contributed countless hours to ensure the young players could train, travel and compete throughout the season. Their support included early mornings, long journeys and the many responsibilities involved in running junior rugby,” said Derick.
As the 2026 season draws to a close, the club can look back on a year filled with challenges, memorable performances and important milestones.
“Thank you for the team’s commitment and for proudly representing the club throughout the year,” said Derick.
The club said with five teams, one club and a growing Eagles family, the focus now turns to building on the progress made during the season and continuing to develop young players both on and off the field.
