All things Portuguese celebrated at Carnival City

Win tickets in this exciting competition.

Carnival City, in association with A Festa Portuguesa, has booked Portugal’s biggest recording artist, Jorge Ferreira, to play the venue during this year’s highly anticipated A Festa Portuguesa 2014.

From September 23 to 28, Carnival City will deliver the best of Portugal.

Hot on the heels of an exceptional first year’s success in 2013, A Festa Portuguesa will once again deliver a cultural Portuguese extravaganza like no other.

Heritage, culture, legacy and history are set to meld when A Festa Portuguesa 2014 welcomes Ferreira to the impressive five-day feast of the senses.

While he prepares a set-list of much loved fan favourites, the festival will focus on everything Portuguese.

Think great food, music, competitions, exhibitions and more.

Born in Azores, Portugal (in February, 1955), Ferreira has worked tirelessly to build a career in music that rivals his peers.

He is also the president and founder of Portuguese Music World, the world’s most-famous Portuguese record company.

South Africans know and love him for his early 1980’s breakout hit-single “Papai”.

Having sold in excess of 1.2 million copies, it stands as the country’s fifth best-selling song of all time.

Besides knowing that there’s a good chance he’ll honour his legacy, fans of the man can look out for all of his biggest hits and memories.

Always starting with his mother tongue, Ferreira adds country, rock, American pop, rock, rockabilly, ballads, reggae, dance, flamenco, Latin music, American folk, fado, Christmas songs, hip-hop, kuduro, desgarrada, and Portuguese folklore to his line-up and makes every song his own.

He will perform in the Big Top Arena at 7pm on September 26, and at 1pm on September 27.

Each ticket bought will also allow fans entrance to A Festa Portuguesa on the day of the performance they attend.
