Seek alternatives to booze and drugs

The youth should understand that there are better alternatives out to alcohol, drugs and sex.

Education as the later President Nelson Mandela once stated; is the best tool we have to succeed in life.

Without it, we are all doomed to fail and be left behind in lie.

The article about the five learners from the Katlehong Technical Secondary should spur many young people to seek education to the empty pleasure of life.

I also thank our local community newspaper Kathorus MAIL for highlighting the success of these five young learners on its pages for all to see and admire.

Without their story in the newspaper, some of us wouldn’t have even known about these five high-achievers in our community.

For that I thank the Editor for his foresight in using the article to educate our youth about the importance of education.

I also feel disappointed in our female learners for failing to stand-up to the success of the five boys.

But I hope the article will in future also make girls realise their right to determine their own achievements in life.

And lastly, but not least, I wish to commend and wish these brilliant five boys well as they proceed to pursue their academic dreams.
