Give due where it is due

I wish to encourage my fellow Ekurhulenians to roll up our sleeves and put our collective power together to raise our region.

As community members we are sometimes very quick to dish our unhappiness with the government of the day.

Often when we do that we fail to look at issues from all sides.

I say this after reading your front page article in the issue June 29.

We have come a long way in Ekurhuleni under the leadership of Clr Mondli Gungubele. We should all stand behind him clapping our hands for the job well done.

The initiatives that he has put in place are quite impressive, especially the Aerotropolis project.

Mr Gungubele Sir, some of us feel that you should stay on.

However, we all need to give our democracy a chance to unfold and to evolve.

Life goes on, and it will certainly go on when the new incumbent Mr Mzwandile Masina comes on board.

With his immense economic development experience at the Department of Trade Industry, he is well placed to take our region to new heights.

He comes at a time when we are faced with the responsibility of rising and pulling each other up economically.

I have no doubt that he is up for the challenge.

I wish to encourage my fellow Ekurhulenians to roll up our sleeves and put our collective power together to raise our region.

Entrepreneurs, residents, young people and art professionals, let us all commit to the responsibility and make it happen.
