Criminals also come in suits and uniforms
Top on the list are banks, cellphone companies as well many others service providers who take their clients for granted and then hang them out to dry.

It turns out that we are actually all criminals responsible for the mayhem in the country today. At least, that’s how some institutions treat us.
As a matter of fact, don’t let anyone deceive you into believing that thieves, criminals and “skelms” are only lazy loafers who wear filthy balaclavas, scale perimeter walls and break into people’s homes to rob, maim and kill their victims. In fact, don’t even be fooled into believing that it is only townships “malaitas” and “vyl-pops” that steal and rob people like you and I of their hard-earned cash.
The fact of the matter is that the worst criminals in our midst are those who wake up each morning, dress in expensive suits and fancy uniforms and then drive to work in their fancy expensive cars where they wreak havoc in the lives of ordinary people like you and me.
Otherwise, how else can I describe a financial institution that bluntly refuses to assist its client to cancel a debit order that has been processed to siphon money out of the client’s accounts by offering the client a non-existent sale or service? How else do I describe a bank that prefers to rather penalise the client, who, upon realising the extent of the fraud in his or her account, decides to withhold his or her hard-earned cash from being further looted from his or her bank account?
Well, the fact of the matter is that millions of South Africans, especially the poorly educated, fall prey to unscrupulous business practices perpetuated by white-collar criminals, both black and white, who actually think nothing of stealing from the poor, the elderly, the frail and those they deem uneducated and illiterate.
This, according to their flawed way of thinking, is not criminal since no blood is spilt and there are no visible gory and bloody bodies.
My nasty experience with a bank and a cellphone service provider, both of whom I have been a loyal client to for the past 45-odd years and 10 years respectively, are trying to rob me blind and they expect me to remain silent and loyal.
Firstly, I reject with contempt the claim by my bank that it can penalise me for cancelling a debit order which I, their client, had signed with the cellphone company.
This comes after I had returned the goods to the cellphone company and informed them that I no longer require their services due to the deductions from my account for two contract cellphones, instead of just one.
What I found even more disgusting is that there are thousands more who are in the same situation that I now find myself in. However, the sad part is that, unlike myself, they are in no position to vent their anger and dissatisfaction as I’m doing. Those corporate institutions and companies regard them as just numbers that are there to help them grow their profits while their customers are left to bleed.
