Why are taverners angry?

My question now is, why are tavern owners complaining about the increase when they have actually been spared the increases that most businesses have been subjected to?

In the August 10 issue of Kathorus MAIL, I read that liquor traders feel the proposed increase in liquor licence fees is too much.

But when I read through rest of the article, I noticed that the last time these fees were raised by the Gauteng Liquor Board was back in 2003 – almost 13 years ago. This means that, while everything else has been going up, their licence fees have been kept at a minim.

My question now is, why are tavern owners complaining about the increase when they have actually been spared the increases that most businesses have been subjected to?

Please, ladies and gentlemen, you have my support as a patron, but stop acting like spoilt brats. Pay up so that you can get those licences and continue giving us the best services or else the authorities will close you down and we, your patrons, will be left high and dry.
