Be Loved City FC humiliates Barcelona FC

The scorer of the only goal of the match for Young Barcelona FC, Nomelelo Dasi (12) felt disappointed about the loss.

Be Loved City FC from Vosloorus taught Young Barcelona FC from the same township a lesson they will never forget.

The team that occupies the number one spot in the Vosloorus Local Soccer Association (VLSA) under South African Football Association (SAFA), Be loved City FC, defeated their arch-rivals Young Barcelona FC by 10 goals to one at Ground D behind Vosloorus Sports grounds on Saturday, September 3.

The team manager of Be Loved City FC Thulani Ndlovu was excited about the results. “I feel very happy about the win as we are a few games away from winning the league. We did not want to be defeated as it was going to have a negative effect on our confidence. The number one spot we are occupying now needs us to be focused and not drop the ball.

“We travel all over the province. I pay from my own pocket; it is not easy because I am a student studying sports management. Transporting these kids to games is a big issue. What worries me the most is the fact that these boys love soccer a lot and they have talent but we have no resources. If only I can get sponsors I would highly appreciate. We need food when we travel. We also need soccer kits. If anyone can come and help me help these children get off the street I’d appreciate it because it is dangerous out there: there is nyaope and other dangerous drugs.

“Most of these kids come from child-headed families and some are orphans. It is difficult to ask for financial help. Even to ask for R50 is difficult because they have no parents. But for those who have parents we have good relationship with their parents because I teach their kids to balance sport and education,” said Ndlovu.

The first goal was scored by Kamogelo Sixishe (11) within the first six minutes of the game. He scored a total of four goals. The other six goals were scored by Nqobile Mngomezulu (two goals), with Kgosto Seaga, Tsidiso Satjeha, Moeletsi Maimane and Nhlanhla Mzolo all scoring one goal each.

Sixishe was chosen as the man of the match and was so excited about the honour.

“I feel happy about the win and the goals that I scored. My performance was good because of the good support from my teammates; we supported each other very well.

“I always come to training feeling very good because before I come here I complete all my chores at home then come to play soccer.

“When I get back home I don’t have problems with my parents. I would like to become a great soccer player one day and play for Barcelona FC in Spain,” said Sixishe.

The manager Nhlanhla Mhlanga of Young Barcelona FC, the losing side, was not surprised by the loss.

“I think we lost to a good team. Worst of all, our team is only two weeks old. It is still new but the team we played against have been there for a very long time. They have had their winning combination for long time whereas we are still trying to find our own.

“I plan to join the league next year but unfortunately we have no kit. I don’t think we will be allowed to join the league because we don’t have a jersey. I would like to ask companies to come forward and offer help, either financially or technically,” he said.

He said the loss does not feel very bad because the game was just a practice match and they had nothing to lose.

“This loss will make us see what we did wrong on the day and rectify all those mistakes.

“I have good plans for this team; I want it to be among the best in the country 10 years from now. If not, I want to produce good players who are going to play for teams in the premier league,” said Mhlanga.

The scorer of the only goal of the match for Young Barcelona FC, Nomelelo Dasi (12) felt disappointed about the loss. “Eish! Losing does not feel good at all, I was hoping to score more goals but since this was our first game we struggled with combination, which is why it was difficult to find the back of the net. But this only goal I scored gave me confidence – I need to score more,” said Dasi.
