Accused murderer attempts suicide

A 29-year-old murder suspect, arrested for the murder of his 15-year-old teenage lover, was later rescued by the police while attempting to commit suicide with his shoelaces inside the holding cells.
The young man who lives at the Siphamandla informal settlement, was arrested on the afternoon of Saturday, October 1 at his home, following the brutal hacking to death of his 15-year-old teenage lover.
The suspect was arrested at the scene of crime and later taken by the police to the Ramokonopi Police Station where he was formally charged for murder.
However, according to Capt Mega Ndobe, during a late night routine check in the holding cells, police orderlies found the suspect dangling under the weight of his body with a pair of shoelaces tide tight around his neck.
“Luckily, police orderly managed to spot him in time, before they rushed and untied him.
The suspect suffered superficial injuries and was treated on the scene and locked back into the cell.

No one knows what the quarrelling was all about, but the police who were summoned to the scene arrived to find the young female victim hacked to death. They believe the young man was lucky not to have been attacked by members of the public.
