Rookies win match in style
The lead was almost doubled not long afterwards as Mtapane nearly scored from the close range.
The newly formed team from Vosloorus claimed victory in style as they beat the famous Real Vultures FC 1-0 at Vosloorus Sports Ground on Sunday, October 2.
FC Ext. 28 pocketed a total of R800.
FC Ext. 28’s Paseka Mtapane scored the only goal that decided the result of the game as Teboho Dlongolo’s men defeated Real Vultures.
The game was played in hot conditions, but the side from Extension 28 adjusted quickly and scored a winner within 35 minutes of play.
The lead was almost doubled not long afterwards as Mtapane nearly scored from the close range.
Real Vultures tried to get a foothold in the game but had a difficult time breaking down a disciplined FC Ext. 28 backline.
FC Ext. 28 could have rubbed more salt in Vultures’ wounds as the game approached the final 10 minutes but Vultures goalkeeper got down bravely to take the ball from Mtapane’s feet.
The visitor’s team manager Teboho Dlongolo was very happy with result of the game.
“Our team is newly formed and was playing for the first time. We don’t have an official name yet, hence we just decided to call ourselves FC Ext. 28
“The fact that we won against a team that is coached by a Judas Baloyi who used to provoke me when we met on the street is a bonus. The last time I met him on the street was a day before the game and he told me how he was going to humiliate us on the field of play,” said Dlongolo.
Mtapane was pleased to be on the scorecard.
“I am very happy to have scored the only goal of the game even though I think could have scored more.
“I have to go back to training and work out on my finishing. Come the next game, I don’t want to make the same mistakes I made today,” said Mtapane.
Judas Baloyi, team manager of Real Vultures, said that their opponents won because they were older than their players.
“I think their experience counted in their favour.
“My team consists of players under the age of 21 years. It did not help us, as our opponents have players’ way older than ours.
“The result of the game before this one had a negative effect on today’s results. We lost confidence when we went down 3-2 to Marikana FC in the top four final we played at Phumula the previous weekend.
“Anyway the game was very interesting and entertaining. Congratulations to the opponents,” concluded Baloyi.
