The road block took place between 10.30am and 1pm.
According to Vosloorus Police Station communication officer Capt Piet Rossouw, the reason behind the roadblock’s success was the manpower.
“There were about 102 officers with 60 vehicles and eight Metro Police members with two dogs.
“Community Policing Forum (CPF) also joined in.
“As for the success, we managed to stop about 288 vehicles and searched about 605 people. Twenty-four traffic fines valued at R7 300 were issued and one person was arrested for being in possession of dagga,” said Rossouw.
Brig Phumla Mdlankomo, the deputy cluster commander, thanked all the officers and other role players for their effort in making the road block a success.
“This will show the community and the residents of South Africa that we as SAPS have their best interest at heart and that we are very serious about making South Africa a better and safer place during this festive season and thereafter,” said Mdlankomo.
