Tavern incident turns deadly

According to Capt Mega Ndobe, communication officer at Katlehong Police Station, it is alleged that on November 29 at about 8pm, a 54-year-old-man was in a tavern in Ramokonopi West. When he got up to go to the toilet, he accidentally kicked over a beer belonging to the 34-year-old suspect. The suspect was allegedly angry, pulled a knife out and stabbed the man in his upper body.
“The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds in the body and head.
Ndobe said the police are also investigating how the suspect entered the tavern in possession of a dangerous weapon. The outcome may result in the tavern being closed, he added.
The suspect is due to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of attempted murder.
