Four Bible stories to be performed live
The storytelling organisation called 'Naane le Moya and She of the Fire' presents the show , ‘Obedience is a Choice'.
The show will take place on July 29, at Shalom Bible Church in Vosloorus.
Tiffani Cornwall, the director of the show, said the show will be performed by Baeletsi Tsatsi.
“Obedience is a Choice’ is a biblical storytelling show. It tells four popular Bible stories that have been told in churches, in Bible conversations and via popular songs.
“The first story that the show tells, is the story of Elijah, the prophets of Baal and the two oxen (Refer to 1 Kings 18). The second story is the one of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego and the blazing furnace (refer to Daniel 3). The third story is the one of Jonah and the fish (refer to Jonah 1 and 2). And the last story is the one of Daniel and the den of lions (refer to Daniel 6),” said Cornwall.
She said the show offers the stories to start conversations around the popular phrase found in 1 Samuel 15:22: ‘Obedience is better than Sacrifice’.
“The show also aims to highlight that obedience is, indeed, better than sacrifice but most importantly that obedience is a choice. The show seeks to offer the Bible not only as a reference book that one can use to guide one’s life, but as a book full of stories that give life, encourage and strengthen a believer’s relationship with God,” Cornwall explained.
She said the stories are told as they are written in the Bible with the aim of preaching the word of God.
“The show is also set on a bare stage so the performer and the stories become the only tools to transform the space and transport the audience into biblical times and beyond,” elaborates Cornawall.
She said ‘Obedience is a Choice’ is aimed at the youth in the hope of offering the Bible as content that will dominate and inspire conversations.
There will be many shows conducted all over Gauteng starting with the one at Shalom Bible Church in Phumula on July 29. Tickets for the show are R50 each.
