Stage is set for the OR Tambo Choral Music Excellence competition

The Ekurhuleni metro is ready and set to celebrate O.R Tambo’s 100th year birthday through musical harmonies over the weekend.

Choirs from across the metro will battle it out during the OR Tambo Choral Music Excellence Competition set for  October the 28 to 29 at the Germiston City Hall, reports the Boksburg Advertiser.

“The choir festival is an annual event that is attended by many choirs and musical lovers. This year we will be elevating the competition to greater heights, that is inclusive of a variety of music genres,” said Themba Gadebe Ekurhuleni metro’s spokesperson.

All choirs who will be participating during the competition stand a chance to win prizes to the value of R400 000.

This year’s competition choir category includes:

  • High School choirs
  • Church choirs
  • Community choirs
  • Male Voice choirs

Entrance to the competition is free of charge, audience to dress in all white on Sunday.

The event will be held from 9am at the Germiston City Hall.
