Top Portuguese Fado musicians to perform in honour of Mandela

A special concert will be held in celebration of Mandela’s centenary.

A tribute in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s centenary will see Latin Grammy Award winner and famed master of the Portuguese Fado music genre, Carlos do Carmo and Camané perform in Fado for Africa at the Theatre of Marcellus on September 29.

Recognised worldwide for being the first to incorporate an upright bass and orchestra into his act, do Carmo transformed the genre and is widely respected for his contribution to Portuguese music.

This talented artist has toured the globe and will be joined by Camané, regarded as the maximum exponent of the new Fado generation.

To add African flair to the sounds of Lisbon, the duo will be joined by the dynamic Tembisa High School Choir.
