Light at the end of the tunnel – celebrating OR Tambo

Celebrating the life and legacy of OR Tambo in the year of Nelson Mandela, Albertina Sisulu and Margaret Gazo.

Born on October 27, 1917, Oliver Reginald Kaizana Tambo lived a comfortable life in the Eastern Cape and would grow up to be an important figure in South African history before his death in 1993.

His role in defying the laws of the apartheid regime was and still is something to be celebrated.

In light of this, Zwelibanzi Sibiya has written a theatre production to celebrate OR Tambo’s life and legacy, titled, Light at the end of the tunnel.

He is also the director of the production.

The play will star well-known performers such as Lerato Mvelase, Siphiwe Nkosi and Sello Ramolahloane.

The choreography will be done by Brian Mazibuko.

The show will run for four days at the Germiston Theatre.

Zwelibanzi has committed to sponsoring a number of local schools to attend the show in order for the youth to learn more about the ANC stalwart.

The learners will be transported to the OR Tambo Cultural Precinct in Wattville, Benoni and then to the theatre to watch the production.

Locals can catch the production on October 20, 21, 27 and 28.

All shows will start at 3pm.

No entry fee will be charged, however, a donation of sanitary pads will be required for access to be granted.
