Pool and braai picnic for children held in Leondale
Children were exposed to different kinds of games which they immensely enjoyed.
Two event companies – Party Time with Kido Events and Projects (PTKEP) and Semanta Events Company (SEC) – held a children’s braai picnic at the Leondale Sports Grounds on November 10.
Owner of the PTKEP Nkosana “Kido” Nxumalo said the first instalment of the event, Change Colours Kiddies Pool and Braai Picnic (CCKPBP), was held with the purpose of reminding parents of the important role they have towards taking care of their children.
“We want to encourage parents to take care of their children. Whether they have the money or not, it is their responsibility to take care of their children.
“That is why we allowed them to come in for free,” said Nxumalo.
He added: “We also want to encourage fathers who “have abandoned their children to use this opportunity to spend quality time with their kids, even if they won’t spend time with their children’s mothers”.
Nxumalo said it is their hope that the Ekurhuleni’s Department of Social Development would support their programme.
“We are so grateful. They (Ekurhuleni metro) have made it possible for us to use this venue, the Leondale sports grounds,” said Nxumalo.

Nxumalo’s partner, Simangele Mtimkulu (owner of SEC), said they brought their stalls to the venue to sell their products in part as a way to uplift the community.
“Part of the profit we made would be donated to a non-profit organisation (NPO) of our choice, and the rest will be saved for equipment so that this event will happen again next year,” said Mtimkulu.
Both Nxumalo and Mtimkulu believe their event was a success considering the fact that people came in their numbers to support them.
Nxumalo thanked Gauteng Department of Tourism for their support.
Mtimkulu said she was happy to see the children happy.
