Are you ready for some comedy, impressions and wise-cracks?
Then make sure you get your tickets to see Mervyn from Durban.
He will be appearing at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace on June 1 at 8pm.
Mervyn from Durban gives a personal take on the funny side of growing up in Durban.
The comedian will take the audience on a journey of the many experiences he has had over the years, from childhood to adulthood.
Mervyn, who describes himself as a “Proudly South African Durbanite of Indian Origin”, has 30 years of stage experience under his belt with performances throughout SA.
Recalling his days when he played on the streets of Durban, namely Victoria, Prince Edward, Queen, Grey, Leopold, Albert and Cross streets, he said, “As a child I played outside, there was no electronic gadgets to keep us entertained, we had to entertain ourselves, hence the interest in dance and comedy.”
The cinema is where he spent most of his time trying to hone his skills, which worked perfectly for him.
Living literally next door to The Dreamland, Liberty, Raj, Shiraz, Isfahan, Naaz, Avalon Albert and Topaz cinemas gave him every opportunity to follow his heart as an entertainer.

He is proud of his Durban heritage and speaks volumes about the city shaping him as an individual and definitely helped establish his craft.
The show features comedy-voice, impressions-actor imitations and music.
Mervyn’s style of comedy includes body language, voice impressions and celebrity imitations with many of his past solo shows, like Back in Time, Bollywood Comedy Night, One Night Stand, Don’t Pillay With Us and Me, Myself and I, featuring a little of everything, including dance imitations.
The show has played at many venues in KwaZulu-Natal, so it will be a treat for all comedy lovers.
