No more sitting on the floor for nursery school in Ratanda
On December 11 Archie Mokonane from SACP Sedibeng District brought smiles to the faces of children in KwaZenzele “To God Be the Glory” Nursery School by donating tables and chairs.
Mokonane was touched by the desolate state of the school during his visit in December and promised to do whatever it takes to change the situation. The children had no tables to dine on and were using uncomfortable and inappropriate chairs to sit on.
They were thrilled and looking forward to sitting comfortably on their chairs and being able to eat lunch at a table. Another surprise was the party packs each of them received.
Sr Rose Mathabela, who works at the local clinic, opened the festivities with a short talk about Aids awareness, as December was declared Aids Awareness Month.
Mokonane stressed the importance of early learning interventions as the foundation of knowledge acquisition. He also honored the educators who were nurturing and mentoring the young minds. As a token of appreciation, Mokonane promised to help the educators with resources to further enhance their work and improve the quality of service at the nursery.
Food parcels were also handed out on December 23 to 40 Komaho households.
Mokonane quoted from Proverbs 22:9: “Generous hands are blessed hands because they give bread to the poor.”
