Kliprivier SAPS arrests man for perjury

Kliprivier SAPS warns against the offence of providing a false statement under oath.

This follows an arrest of a 53-year-old man who was nabbed for perjury.

Sgt Tintswalo Ndhambi of Kliprivier SAPS said the suspect came to the station and initially opened a case of hijacking, but it was later discovered he had deceived the SAPS into thinking he was hijacked.

“We were sympathetic when he reported the matter to us, but within a few days we found out he had been lying,” she said.

The suspect will soon be appearing in the Meyerton Magistrate’s Court.

The station commander of Kliprivier SAPS, Lt-Col Landman, commended the investigation team.
