Eden Park’s Opelweg Primary School was among 10 schools across four provinces that received a surprise visit from Pick n Pay just recently.

Pick n Pay visited more than 2 700 Grade One and Two learners ahead of the Easter weekend.

They surprised learners with treat packs containing Easter eggs, hot cross buns and stationery donated by BIC.

The school was also visited by the Pritt brand’s mascot, ‘Mr Pritt’, who added extra excitement and entertainment on his visit. Pritt also contributed two erasers to each stationery pack provided to the learners.

André Nel, general manager for sustainability at Pick n Pay, said they pride themselves on educating learners in a fun-filled way.

“While our goal is to educate our future leaders, we also look at creating fun and memorable experiences for the children. Easter treats is a luxury for many learners across South Africa so we wanted to bring the celebration to some classrooms ahead of the long weekend,” he said.

Nel reiterated that they were privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute to all the schools.

The stationery packs donated from BIC were said to be valued at just over R200 each.

The packs included various items such as graphite pencils, wax crayons and colour and erase felt pens.

Kutlwano Tshetlhane of BIC, said: “BIC’s purpose is to equip children to be more creative, more visionary, more inspired and more original. We want to empower their potential through the tools that they need to become the next generation of creators, innovators and leaders.”
