Themed Operation Basadi, the crime prevention operation was spearheaded by Alberton SAPS female officers in line with Women’s Day, commemorated on August 9.

Dedicated team members conducted roadblocks, searches and crime-prevention patrols.

According to Capt Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS, the operation was solely aimed at sweeping crime off the streets of Alberton.
“This crime operation is actually an all-female operation, and we as male officers came in to assist where we can and so our women officers aren’t overpowered. It has proved to be a success as arrests continue to be made,” he said.
