Heidelberg Bowling Club has achieved a remarkable milestone after becoming the first club in EKB history to have three concurrent Men’s President’s invitational champions.
The historic achievement unfolded over two weekends, with members of the club dominating the junior, open and veterans categories.
On the first weekend of August, Heidelberg Bowling Club’s Johann Strauss claimed the EKB Junior Men’s President’s Invitational title. His victory also earned him an automatic invitation to compete in the Open President’s Invitational.
Johann’s success was followed by an outstanding performance from his father, Karl Strauss, who was crowned the Open Men’s President’s champion on August 16 at Lake Club Benoni.
Adding to Heidelberg Bowling Club’s impressive weekend, Pieter Pieterse secured the Veterans President’s title at Benoni Bowling Club.
Karl Strauss and Pieterse will now turn their attention to the next challenge, with both set to compete in the Open and Veteran Masters Tournament at the end of August.
The club’s unprecedented success reflects the quality and depth of its players and provides a major boost for Heidelberg’s bowling community as the season enters another important stage.
