Photo gallery: dozens of local VIPs “jailed” for charity

Around 25 people from Heidelberg were ‘arrested’ by the police on July 27 as part of Lesedi Community Centre’s fundraiser - Bail or Jail.

They were ‘charged’ for making a positive difference in the community and trialed by judge Corrie Human.

Around R100 000 in total was collected within four hours. In addition, over 5000 cans of food were also collected, which was one of the requirements for the jailbirds to be released.

The collection of canned food forms part of the Unity Parade’s attempt to build a world record on 31 August (by building a pyramid of about 31 000 cans). The Unity Parade is an opportunity where all charity organizations can market themselves.
