The accident occurred around midday today (February 24) on the corner of Breytenbach and Fourth Streets.

According to the driver, he was frantic about finding today’s HERAUT newspaper when he suddenly lost control over the powerful German make vehicle. The car swerved, skidded across the road and went over the sidewalk, where it crash-landed into the palisade fencing of the police station.

No-one was injured, but the driver was visibly shaken by the crash.

An eyewitness told HERAUT on the scene that she saw how the driver lost control and failed to keep it on the road as it started to swerve.
