Dunnottar Kidnapping: Police need help locating two-year-old
Baby snatched during armed robbery
Dunnottar Police are on the hunt for four suspects following an armed robbery and kidnapping of a two-year-old child at a local business on August 27.
According to police spokesman Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate the incident occurred at approximately 22:00 at a restaurant.
“A 42-year-old Ethiopian businessman was held at gunpoint and robbed of cash and cellphones,” Tshilate said.
“The toddler, Tensy Defar, was snatched from his mother’s arms by one of the suspects. They fled the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla.”
A traced cellphone signal led police to an undisclosed location in Vereeniging on August 28, but the search for the child still continues.
According to W/O Tommy Tomlinson of Dunnottar SAPS the Springs Child Protection Unit is now investigating the kidnapping.
