Two nabbed for cable theft after huge discovery on farm outside Nigel
Two suspects were arrested by the Police on charges of possession of stolen property (cable theft).
Police, assisted by members of Nigel Community of Patrol (NCOP) and security staff from Monitor 24, caught the suspects red-handed on a farm outside Nigel, while they were setting fire to a stack of cables in order to reach the copper inside.
Police discovered several stacks (a combination of hundreds of meters Telkom and Eskom cables) on the property.
The estimated value thereof has not yet been determined and the investigating units of both Telkom and Eskom have been informed of the discovery.
The suspects are expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court later this week.
