A 37-year-old Zimbabwean suspect in the rape case of an 8-year-old school girl was denied bail today in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court.
Residents of Ratanda and Heidelberg marched from Ratanda to town where they were demonstrating outside the court shouting out slogans such as:
‘Reclaiming our streets’
‘Hands off our women and children’
‘Go to hell rapist’
‘Wise men do not rape’
‘No bail for rapist’
The incident happened on March 8 when the girl who was on her way home from school, was called by the accused to his house. He lured her inside where he allegedly raped her. 
The man was denied bail and the case postponed to May 30.
