Turbocharge your focus this exam season

Plan your study sessions properly for the exam time.

When that study timetable is handed out in class and brought home, the household’s stress levels seem to rise, and tension mounts. Planning your study sessions properly and well in advance helps decrease any tension that builds up among family members.

“Exam time is never a fun time, for everyone in the home, but being prepared and organising your time wisely, helps lower stress levels,” says Mokete Sekhesa. “Having a plan, avoiding distractions, neglecting all technology, and giving yourself time to study makes your pre-exam time much more manageable.”

Sekhesa offers the following studying tips:

  • Organise your study desk. When the space that you are working on is in disarray, you won’t be able to concentrate on your work, when you are focusing on the pile of papers in front of you. Put everything where it needs to go, and don’t put too much on your work desk to avoid distraction.

  • Plan your time correctly and create a study timetable so that you know when you are going to study, and for how long. If you give yourself enough time to study, instead of cramming it into a shorter amount of time, you can retain more information.

  • Seek out old exam papers and work from previous questions. This gives you a good idea on how questions will be asked, and what answers the examiners are looking for. Practice makes perfect.

  • Lack of concentration is one of the biggest issues when it comes to exam preparation. Taking a supplement to help you focus such as Turbovite® Focus helps to keep your concentration levels up and aids in memory support, increased mental concentration and physical energy. Turbovite® Focus is formulated with active ingredients that give your child the mental support when concentrating is important. * Children from the age of 12 years can use Turbovite® Focus.

  • Organise study groups with friends; learning from your peers is sometimes more effective than learning from a textbook as they can explain it to you in a different manner. Just be sure that the group is there to study, and not distract you from the job at hand.
